Within two weeks of kicking off leveled English class, both our beginner and our intermediate classes are at max capacity! We are excited to be able to serve our neighbors by giving them skills to be successful within their new environment. Would you consider partnering with us to help our refugee neighbors? Here are some ways you can help:
1. Sponsor a student or sponsor a class for a semester. The people we are serving are very poor. Most have husband's who work long hours for very low pay while they are at home with the children. They have no money for classes and books, but are so very grateful when we can offer this to them. For $10 you can give someone the tools to begin their path to English literacy. For $75 you can purchase curriculum for an entire class- 6 student books and 1 teacher book. Donations can be made through our website. Please indicate your gift is for ESL. https://www.envisionatlanta.org/donations
2. Shop our Amazon wishlist: Envision Atlanta English Teacher Supplies. Especially the beginner class is in need of creative ways to get the concepts across. This list contains items chosen purposely for use in our unique setting. The Envision Atlanta Teacher Supplies list can be accessed though the Amazon page of our ESL coordinator, Angela Kirk. All supplies purchased are set up to be mailed to Angela's home for insure safe receipt. These gifts are not tax deductible.
3. Volunteer! We need childcare workers and class helpers on Saturday afternoons from 1:00-3:00. Sign up through our website (https://www.envisionatlanta.org/interest-page). All volunteers must submit to a self-pay background check ($39) for the protection of our students and children and the integrity of Envision Atlanta. You will be contacted with directions after filling out the online interest page.
4. Help get our basement ministry space finished. Until we have more space, we will be limited to two classes at a time. Could you or someone you know bless Envision Atlanta with their skilled labor to complete our basement ministry space? Contact Michael Laws at Michael@mijul.com to find out how your skills could make English Classes accessible to so many more refugees!
